Ellhami Hassan

Elhamy Hassan, Egyptian director and author, was born on November 23, 1912. Elhamy enrolled in the Mushthour Agricultural School to please his father, but Elhamy’s love for art grew with him, so he participated in the school’s theatrical troupe. His father decided to send him to England to keep him away from art, so his hope of becoming an actor increased and he joined the Royal Academy of Art. In 1951, he was appointed to the production department at Studio Misr, and in 1952 he formed Al-Saqr Films Company for film production and distribution. He produced and directed four films: (My Life Partner), starring Shukri Sarhan, and the film (Don’t Think). In 1959, Al-Hami was appointed to the Academy of Arts to teach theater history and cinema history. He also taught at the College of Fine Arts and the College of Arts. In 1971, he won the award of the Supreme Council for Arts, Literature and Social Sciences in the Film Committee Competition in the History of Egyptian Cinema. In 1972, he traveled to East Germany on a scholarship in theater and cinema. In 1982, he was entrusted with supervising liberal studies at the Higher Institute of Dramatic Arts, and in 1991 he joined the Ansar Association for Acting and Cinema and published a number of books, including the history of cinema, the history of theater, Muhammad Talaat Harb, the Egyptian cinema industry, the Ansar Association for Acting and Cinema, and the history of Egyptian cinema. Then he was assigned to the University of Baghdad.
