Zaman - The Man from the Reeds, is a 2003 Iraqi movie, directed by Amer Alwan, and starring Shaza Salem, Saadiya Al-Zaydi, Hussein Imad. with a runtime of 77 minutes.
Zaman - The Man from the Reeds is a beautifully crafted Iraqi drama — sweet and sad in equal measure — directed with quiet mastery and starring Sami Kaftan and Shatha Salim in the lead roles. Zaman and his wife Najma have built a tranquil life together in their reed house in the marshes of southern Iraq, and have lovingly raised Yacine (Hussein Imad), a boy orphaned by the 1991 Gulf War. When Najma falls gravely ill and the local doctor cannot provide the medicine she needs, Zaman sets off alone in his small boat, journeying up the Tigris all the way to Baghdad in search of a cure. The film is a deeply human story of devotion and perseverance, rooted in the fragile beauty of marsh life and the quiet heroism of ordinary love — one of the most celebrated works of Iraqi cinema.
