Overview

An Ordinary Day is a Syrian drama set in Damascus in the summer of 2018. Abu Firas, a taxi driver burdened by the pressures of daily life in a city scarred by conflict, has developed an unusual survival strategy: with each new passenger who enters his cab, he spins elaborately crafted stories about his own suffering, hoping to earn their sympathy and, with it, more generous tips. But his passengers — spanning different ages and social backgrounds — react in wildly different ways to his fabrications. As the day unfolds and one encounter after another tests his scheme, Abu Firas is hit by a profound shock that transforms what seemed like just another ordinary day into a deeply human reckoning with truth, empathy, and the costs of deception.
