Roadblock is a taut short film set in Beirut during the October 2019 revolution. On their way home from a protest, Farah — a young Lebanese woman — and her French-Lebanese boyfriend Anthony are stopped at a roadblock manned by two armed militiamen. What begins as a routine checkpoint quickly turns threatening when it becomes clear that the two men have a specific grievance with Farah. The film is a compact, pressure-cooker drama that captures the dangerous intersections between personal history and political violence in a city gripped by both popular uprising and entrenched power.
