Parizad is an Iranian documentary film that follows Keshvar khale, a solitary elderly woman living in the ancient village of Chasham in northern Iran. She sustains herself by gathering medicinal plants and tending to her livestock, and she is one of the last living practitioners of gelij — a rare and intricate weaving tradition on the verge of extinction. Her home overlooks a hill, beside which she has built a traditional weaving room to continue her craft. Keshvar khale holds a mythological belief that gelij is an ancient fairy who once lived in a cave near the village and taught the locals her art. The film is a meditative portrait of cultural preservation, solitude, and living folklore.
