Overview

Liberté Emprisonnée is a short Moroccan film directed by Sara Mikayil, centering on Mehdi, a young quadriplegic man who lives quietly with his mother. On his birthday, an unexpected gift disrupts the stillness of his daily routine and stirs a range of suppressed emotions. Shot with intimacy and sensitivity, the film uses Mehdi's physical confinement as a starting point to explore broader questions of freedom, desire, and the boundaries of the self. A delicate and thoughtful work that finds expansive inner landscapes within the most constrained circumstances.
