Overview

Cinema AlDunia is a short documentary film that turns its lens on a storied Damascus movie house, exploring its present condition and uncertain future. The film delves into the day-to-day reality of one of the city's cultural institutions — a cinema that has weathered decades of social and political change — and asks whether it can survive what lies ahead. More than a portrait of a building or a business, Cinema AlDunia becomes a meditation on memory, cultural identity, and the role of shared public spaces in times of upheaval. A quietly resonant piece of documentary filmmaking rooted in the living history of Damascus and its cinematic heritage.
