Bootleg is a bold feminist comedy that follows Roukaya, an outwardly obedient middle-class Muslim woman trapped in a deeply unsatisfying marriage. When she discovers the world of sex toys, it sparks an awakening that leads her to return to Egypt determined to reclaim agency over her own life. Joined by two other women, she embarks on a daring underground venture: secretly manufacturing and distributing sex toys in defiance of social and legal taboos. Part dark comedy, part social commentary, Bootleg confronts topics rarely explored in Arab cinema — female desire, bodily autonomy, and sisterhood — with sharp wit and audacious storytelling that challenges the boundaries of the possible.
