Overview

5 Stars Family is a warm Syrian social comedy series set in a historic Damascus neighborhood, following the family of Umm Ahmad Blalish (played by Samia Al-Jazaeri) — her daughter Samar (Amal Arfa), son Ahmad (André Skaff), and son Mohammad — as they rent a home in a traditional old quarter. When the Homs-accented civil servant Farhan (Fares Al-Helou) comes to ask for Samar's hand in marriage, the household's rhythm is upended in the most entertaining way possible. Farhan's distinct Homsi mannerisms, his unshakeable loyalty to the well-connected Abu Fouad, and his inseparable mate-drinking straw make him an irresistibly comic presence in a series that celebrates Syrian family life with affection and wit.
