Overview

Wlad Lahlal is an Algerian drama film following two brothers, Marzaq and Zeno, on an emotional journey to find the family they never really knew. Orphaned in a sense from childhood — their mother dead and their father imprisoned — the two men grew up in an orphanage before setting out to piece together their origins. Fate brings them face to face with their younger brother Elias, and eventually with the father whose actions destroyed their family. The confrontation with their father, who confesses that he falsely accused their mother of misconduct and caused her death, forms the film's devastating emotional core. Wlad Lahlal is a moving examination of broken families, paternal guilt, and the long shadow of injustice.
