The Time That Remains is a semi-autobiographical Palestinian film by director Elia Suleiman, structured in four chapters spanning from the founding of Israel in 1948 to the present day. Drawing on intimate family memories and archival materials, the film portrays the daily lives of Palestinians who remained in their homeland after 1948 and were subsequently classified as Israeli Arabs — a community living as a minority in the land they call home. Suleiman's characteristically observational and quietly absurdist style transforms personal history into a meditation on identity, belonging, and the stubborn endurance of a people caught between erasure and memory. The Time That Remains is widely regarded as one of the most important works in contemporary Palestinian cinema.
