The Meeting, is a 2006 Tunisian movie, directed by Sarra Abidi, and starring Basma El Euchi, Rihab Mejri, Lotfi Abdelli. with a runtime of 15 minutes.
The Meeting is a Tunisian drama following Ahlem and Najwa, two young women from a working-class neighborhood who work at an upscale pastry shop in Tunis. Trapped by poverty and sustained by dreams of romantic rescue, they cling to the fantasy of a wealthy suitor as their ticket out. When a rich client invites Ahlem to meet him, she takes the risk and ventures alone into the city center at night — only to wait in vain. The film unflinchingly examines how society polices women's freedom of movement, using one woman's simple act of waiting as a lens on the complex intersection of gender, class, and dignity in contemporary Tunisia.
