Al-Halal is an Egyptian drama set in a vivid Cairo neighbourhood, telling the story of a poor young woman who tries to escape the grip of poverty by working alongside charlatans and self-proclaimed sorcerers, selling illusions for her daily bread. While she turns to the neighbourhood's shadows, her friend chooses a different path — travelling to the Gulf in pursuit of money and a better life. A raw social portrait exploring the choices made at the margins of society, where desperation blurs the line between the permissible and the forbidden.
