Overview

El Hareth is an Egyptian drama-horror film set against the haunting landscape of the Siwa Oasis. A newlywed couple honeymooning near the oasis hears a disturbing local legend: the story of a night when the moon vanished, the desert turned restless, and the people living on the oasis's outskirts became convinced that Satan himself was searching for a bride. What begins as a strange tale passed between strangers gradually takes on a more ominous weight, weaving superstition and dread into the couple's romantic escape. The film uses the isolation of the desert and the power of oral folklore to create an atmosphere of creeping, ambiguous menace.
