Overview

The Coachman is a Syrian period drama set in the old quarter of Damascus, following Abdo, an honest man who earns his living driving a horse-drawn carriage through the city's ancient lanes. His modest, principled life is disrupted by the scheming Abu Hamza Al-Nashwati, who stole his late brother's inheritance and uses his influence over the neighborhood to shut down anyone who crosses him. When Abdo falls for a girl and refuses to bend to Abu Hamza's dictates, what begins as a personal grievance escalates into a clash between ordinary decency and entrenched power. Starring Bassem Yakhour and Salloum Haddad, the series is a warm, character-rich portrait of old Damascus and the enduring conflict between dignity and corruption.
