Overview

Regret is an Arabic historical drama series that opens on the night Baghdad fell in 2003, using that seismic moment as the starting point for the story of Erwa, a forty-year-old television writer. Through Erwa's reflective voice, the series retraces the historical events and political turning points that have defined the Arab world from the invasion of Iraq to the present day. Part personal memoir, part collective reckoning, the series uses the figure of the writer-witness to explore the grief, contradictions, and lingering wounds left behind by war and foreign intervention.
