Al Aqrab is a gritty Egyptian social drama that examines the desperate struggles of the urban poor, caught between survival and morality. Jaber, powerfully played by Mundhir Rayhana, lives with his mother Baddour (Hala Fakher), his sister (Reem Al-Baroudi), and his mentally disabled brother. Starting as a petty thief and bully, Jaber forms a gang and rises through the criminal underworld after encountering the experienced thief Mohamed Lotfy, who opens doors to a larger criminal network. Meanwhile, his mother Baddour staunchly refuses to touch illicit money, scraping by as a vegetable vendor and domestic worker. A raw and unflinching portrait of poverty, crime, and the moral divides that fracture families.
