Overview

Life Disciplined Him is a short Iraqi drama film that casts a critical eye on the social problems and moral deviations afflicting Iraqi youth in the late 1950s, a turbulent era of political and social upheaval. The film's unconventional length — running just under forty minutes — initially barred it from mainstream cinema circuits, as major theaters refused to program it as a standalone feature. It eventually found a home at the Regent Cinema, where it screened alongside a foreign film. A rare artifact of mid-century Iraqi cinema, it offers a candid portrait of generational struggle in a society in transition.
