A Play Before The Bombs, is a 2021 Palestinian play, directed by Roger Hill, and starring Abeer Ahmed. with a runtime of 13 minutes.
A Play Before The Bombs is a documentary film set inside the al-Mishal Cultural Center in Gaza, captured before it was destroyed by an Israeli airstrike on August 9, 2018. Unfolding over four years, the film follows Abeer Ahmed, a young woman from the Jabaliya Refugee Camp — Gaza's largest — as she and her cast and crew prepare to stage a play addressing Palestinian women's inheritance rights. But the omnipresent Israeli siege on Gaza casts its shadow over every rehearsal and every dream. Buildings are shattered; so are the aspirations of the artists who found in al-Mishal a refuge for creative expression. A deeply affecting portrait of art as resistance, and its fragility in the face of war.
