
Walid received a limited amount of education, as he started working when he was young to help the family due to the father’s salary being insufficient. He learned the profession of repairing radio equipment and excelled at it, which made him listen to many songs when he was young. Then he learned to play the oud and mastered it when he was seventeen years old. He applied to the amateur program at Studio El Fan with the artist Majda Al-Roumi, and at that time he sang the song (Oyoun Bahiya) by the singer Muhammad Al-Azabi, and the film director Hassan Al-Imam heard him, who was At that time, he was filming in Lebanon the movie (This I Love and This I Want) by the artist Hani Shaker - he nominated him for three show films. When he refused to obey Hassan Al-Imam’s orders to dance in the film, considering that dancing was not compatible with Eastern traditions, he lost the opportunity to participate in Hassan Al-Imam’s films. Among his works are: Fish Without a Bones , Who Who Extinguishes the Fire , The Postman .
