An Egyptian journalist and novelist, he worked in Akhbar Al-Youm newspaper in 1958 as an editor in the accidents section. After that, Wajih Abu Zekry rose through the career ladder until he obtained the position of head of the Arab Affairs Department in Akhir Sa’a magazine. Wajih Abu Zekry has written many books, such as (The Massacre of the Innocents on June 5), (Flowers Are Buried in Yemen), (Types of Women), and (The October War, An Israeli Testimony). He traveled to several Arab countries where he covered the Yemen war there, after which he traveled to the United Arab Emirates and founded (Al-Ittihad) newspaper. After the parties returned to Egypt again, he participated in founding the first partisan newspaper affiliated with the then ruling party, which was the newspaper (Misr). Wajih Abu Zekry led a fierce war against the compensation mafia and raised the issue of the El Alamein mines in addition to his battle against the representatives of Al-Kif. On January 8, 2004, Wajih Abu Zekry suffered a severe heart attack and died as a result, leaving behind his daughter, director Kamla Abu Zekry.
