
An Egyptian writer and novelist, born in Zagazig, Sharqia Governorate, in 1927, from the Circassian Abaza family, which is considered one of the most ancient families in Egypt. He obtained a bachelor's degree in law from Fouad I University in 1950, and began his literary career at the age of sixteen, where he turned to writing short stories and radio plays, then he turned to writing novels. Tharwat Abaza wrote more than forty radio plays, forty short stories, and twenty-seven long novels, among his most prominent works (Fugitive from Days, A Thing of Fear, Roots in the Air, A Sparkle in the Clouds, and Dreams at Noon). He died in 2003 after a long illness due to a malignant stomach tumor at the age of 76.
