Mohamed Hassan Ramzy

Egyptian producer and distributor, and former president of the Egyptian Chamber of Film Industry. He was born in 1954 and graduated from the Faculty of Commerce. His father is the late director and producer Hassan Ramzy, founder of the Egyptian Chamber of Film Industry and its second president. He is the brother of the Mu'tazila artist (Hoda Ramzy) and the father of the young actor (Sherif Ramzy). He participated in the movie “The Unknown Woman” when he was six years old, but he decided not to go through the experience again. He began his production career in 1970, when he was 16 years old, when he produced the successful film “Passion and the Body,” which remained in theaters for 16 weeks. He graduated from his college in 1977 when his father died in the same year. Then he worked only as a distributor for films, and remained afraid to engage in the full production experience until he began production in 1996. He founded (Al-Nasr Production and Distribution) Company, which produced a large number of films, either individually or through partnership with (Oscar) and (Al-Masah) companies. Among his most prominent works are (A Love of Snakes, Al Jazeera, and The Dealer). He served as (President of the Egyptian Film Industry Chamber) until his death. He also made several efforts to protect Egyptian films from digital and satellite piracy, and he had several initiatives to protect films from being pirated on the Internet, the most recent of which was his travel to France with others at their own expense to negotiate with the satellite company Eutelsat. He also traveled to Jordan on November 17, 2014 to form an alliance to eliminate film piracy. He was married to producer (Nihad Ramzy), who died in August 2014. He contracted lung cancer eight months before his death, and after a short deterioration and spending two weeks in intensive care in a Cairo hospital, he traveled to (London) to follow up on his medical condition, accompanied by his son (Salah), where he died on January 13, 2015.
