ممدوح عدوان

The Syrian playwright and poet Mamdouh Adwan was born in the village of Qairun, Hama Governorate, Syria, in 1941. He graduated from the University of Damascus, Faculty of Arts, English Department, in 1966. Before that, he had worked in Al-Thawra newspaper since 1964. At that time, he also began publishing his poetry in many Arabic magazines, after which he wrote a number of television scripts, including (Al-Zeer Salem) and (Circle of Fire). He also wrote many poetic plays, such as: (The Trial of the Man Who Did not Fight) in 1970, in addition to the novel (My Enemies). Mamdouh was a member of the Arab Writers Union, the Union of Arab and Syrian Journalists, and a member of the Poetry Society of the Writers Union. In 2004, Mamdouh died at the age of 63. The deceased won several appreciations and awards throughout his life. He was also honored by the Damascus Festival for Performing Arts, and was also honored by Hama Governorate a few days before his death.
