
A contemporary Egyptian violinist and music composer, born in Cairo in 1933. His father was a merchant who loved listening to music and singing, but he was strongly opposed to his son taking up art in any form. Michel loved drawing and music, and his talents were greatly encouraged by his teachers in the schools in which he studied. When he finished his secondary studies in 1948, he also secretly joined the Leonardo da Vinci Institute of Fine Arts in Cairo. In 1949, Michel joined the Institute. Fouad I of Arabic Music, and although he was already playing the violin, the director of the institute directed him to study the brass cornet. Michel formed a musical band of twenty-five musicians that was active in Egyptian musical life. The music of the series “Layali Al-Helmeya” and the music of the series “Who Doesn’t Love Fatima?” Michel Al-Masry’s works included the soundtrack to the series “Sons of Adam” in 1988.
