
An Egyptian novelist and writer, born on March 25, 1938, in Minya, Upper Egypt. He obtained a BA in Sports and Education from the Teachers College in Cairo in 1960, a diploma from the Cinema Institute - Screenplay Department (1972), and a postgraduate diploma from the Cinema Institute, Directing Department (1972). And the State Encouragement Award for Story (1979). Scientific dissertations on his work were discussed in more than one language at universities: Minya, the American University in Cairo, the Sorbonne, Aix-en-Provence, Rome, Naples, and Warsaw. He also wrote the stories of three feature films: “Sons of Silence” directed by Mohamed Rady, “A Story from Our Country” directed by Helmy Halim, and “Harem Cage” directed by Hussein Kamal. He published seven short story collections: "Vostok Reaches the Moon" (1967). “Five Unread Newspapers” (1970), and “The Following Days” (1972). And "Al-Waleef" (1978). “The Incident That Happened” (1987), “Harem Conspiracies and Other Stories” (1997), and “23 Short Stories” (2001). He also published seven novels: “Circles of Impossibility” (1972), “These” (1973), “Children of Silence” (1974), “The Chamber of Earthly Coincidence” (1978), “Hanan” (1984), “The Virgin of Sunset” (1986), and “The Expatriation of Beni Hathut” (To the Lands of the North 1987, To the Lands of the South 1992, To the Lands of Lakes, and To the Lands of Saad, The four parts were published in 2005. He has two stories for children: “Wonderful Adventures” and “The Music Booth” (1980), and a skit: “The International Bank of Laughter” (2001), and studies: “The Curiosities of Kings and the Intrigues of Banks” (1976), “The Ancient History of Donkeys” (1996), “Diana and Monica,” and “The Age of Lanterns” about Yahya Haqqi and his era (1999).
