Farouk El Rashedy

An Egyptian actor, director and academic, he graduated from the Higher Institute of Cinema, then received a scholarship in the Soviet Union through which he obtained a doctorate in directing. He began his artistic career through radio, before moving on to work in cinema and television. Among his most prominent works are (I Will Not Live in My Father’s Robe, Umm Kulthum, and The Twins). He also worked as an assistant director in the film (An Incident of Honor) in 1971. He also directed two documentaries, and a feature film, (The Scandal). In 1992, in addition to acting, he worked as a professor of directing at the Higher Institute of Cinema for many years. He died on February 11, 2017.
