Overview

This Little Father Obsession is a bold hybrid film by director Selim Mourad that centers on questions of lineage, inheritance, and what is passed down between generations. Mourad stages a portrait of his own nuclear family, staking a place within it on his own terms — as a same-sex loving man who will not father children. After the death of his sister, he becomes his parents' only surviving child and the last male bearing the family name, a burden that weighs heavily throughout. Meanwhile, the old building his grandfather left behind is falling into disrepair, and no one in the family can afford to fix it. A deeply personal meditation on identity, legacy, and belonging.
