Tadmor is a powerful documentary in which a group of former Lebanese political prisoners finally break decades of silence. Set against the backdrop of Syria's popular uprising in 2011, the film follows the survivors of Tadmor Prison — one of the Assad regime's most feared detention centers — as they publicly testify for the first time about the systematic torture and humiliation they endured. To reclaim their trauma and process their survival, they reconstruct the prison inside an abandoned school near Beirut and reenact their experiences, alternating between the roles of victim and oppressor. Tadmor is a haunting, cathartic work of documentary filmmaking and collective healing.
