Overview

Salma is an Egyptian drama film that follows a woman on what begins as a mundane bureaucratic errand — obtaining her late husband's death certificate — and becomes an unexpected journey of self-discovery and civic awakening. Blocked at every turn by financial and administrative obstacles, Salma is pushed to a breaking point that transforms into a turning point: she decides to run for a seat in Egypt's People's Assembly. The film is a quiet but pointed story about how ordinary women are driven into the public sphere not by ambition but by the refusal to accept injustice, offering a grounded portrait of female determination in contemporary Egypt.
