A Feeling Greater Than Love is a Lebanese documentary that resurrects a forgotten chapter of the country's social history. An elderly man drives through southern Lebanon, loudspeaker mounted on his car, calling people to join a demonstration in support of tobacco farmers who occupied a tobacco company in 1973. The film uncovers two overlooked labor movements — the southern tobacco farmers' revolt against landowner monopolies and a Beirut chocolate factory strike — both erased from collective memory by the devastating civil war that followed. A meditation on historical amnesia, class solidarity, and the deep sectarian divisions that came to define modern Lebanon.
