Photograph - Woman is a documentary drama following a group of Tunisian women who have staged regular demonstrations outside government buildings in Tunis since 2012. Known as the "Photograph Women," they carry gilt-framed portraits of their missing loved ones — sons, brothers, and husbands — who vanished while attempting a clandestine sea crossing to the Italian island of Lampedusa during the Arab Spring. Some of the men made brief phone calls to their families just before reaching the island, and then fell silent. No bodies have ever been recovered to confirm their deaths, so the women hold onto these final calls as evidence of life. The film is a moving portrait of grief, resilience, and the agonizing limbo between hope and mourning, set against the broader backdrop of North African migration in the post-revolution era.
