Overview

Happily Ever After is an unsparing personal documentary set in the turbulent aftermath of Egypt's Arab Spring. Filmed with disarming intimacy, it traces the unraveling of a romantic relationship against the backdrop of a society in profound political transition. The film refuses easy resolutions or comfortable distances, drawing a direct and often painful line between private heartbreak and public upheaval. A raw and courageous work of personal cinema that uses one faltering relationship to illuminate a nation's fractured moment.
