Nafura, is a 2023 French movie, directed by Paul Heintz. with a runtime of 29 minutes.
Nafura is an experimental short film by director Paul Heintz, set on a sweltering summer night in an unnamed Saudi Arabian city. Three young women friends, bored and restless, find themselves in a verbal duel that revolves around the word 'nafura' — meaning fountain — a loaded, ambivalent term that becomes the centrepiece of their sharp-tongued exchange. The film is a continuation of Heintz's exploration of the edge between reality and fantasy, previously seen in Foyers (FID 2018), and examines how language and imagination can simultaneously liberate and constrain. Part road movie, part philosophical reverie, Nafura is a formally inventive work that draws on the energy of its three lead performers to deliver a quietly provocative meditation on desire, power, and the stories we tell ourselves.
