Mar Mama is a poignant drama about a young Palestinian girl haunted by two overlapping losses: the death of her mother and the recurring Israeli military attacks on her city. Consumed by an obsession with death, she retreats inward. Her father desperately attempts to reach her by making a stop-motion animated film together, but his efforts fail to break through. In the end, the girl finds her only refuge in the private world of her own imagination. A rare and sensitively told exploration of childhood trauma, grief, and the ways children find their own language to survive war.
