L'appel is a short film steeped in surreal, Kafkaesque atmosphere. A woman in her thirties arrives at what resembles a military prison, driven by a single purpose: to free her imprisoned parents. She is assigned a companion — a glass blower — who sets her to endlessly repetitive, exhausting labor, a task that seems designed less to help than to make her understand the futility of her mission. Rich in symbolic tension and quietly devastating in its logic, the film is a meditation on determination, institutional power, and the walls — real and imagined — that trap us.
