I Am the People, is a 2016 Egyptian movie, directed by Anna Roussillon. with a runtime of 111 minutes.
I Am the People is a documentary film that offers a rare and intimate perspective on Egypt's 2011 revolution, witnessed not from Tahrir Square but from a poor rural village in the country's south. As tens of thousands gathered in Cairo to demand change, ordinary villagers followed the unfolding drama on their television screens and through daily newspapers. Filmmaker Anna Roussillon spent two years with these communities, capturing their reactions, hopes, and disillusionment as Egypt lurched from the fall of President Mubarak through to the election of Mohamed Morsi. The result is a grounded, human document of a nation in upheaval, seen from its overlooked margins.
