Overview

Istrupya is a Palestinian narrative feature film that follows a group of young people from Gaza who, in 2012, find themselves forced by the suffocating circumstances of life under blockade to make a desperate bid for a new life. They gather their courage and board a smuggling boat departing from the shores of Alexandria in Egypt, hoping to reach safety and a future that their homeland cannot offer them. What follows is a harrowing journey into the unknown, as their tracks are lost at sea. The film is a powerful and deeply human document of a generation's forced displacement, capturing the desperation, hope, and sacrifice of those who risk everything simply to survive. A stark portrait of the Palestinian predicament in the modern era.
