A Time To Rest is a Lebanese documentary by director Myriam El Hajj observing Riad, a middle-aged man who runs a firearm shop in a Beirut neighbourhood. When Riad gathers with his old friends or takes them hunting, their conversations inevitably drift back to the Lebanese civil war, in which they fought alongside Christian militias — a conflict that defined their youth and still haunts them. El Hajj builds architecturally precise images to pose a quiet but profound question about the lingering grip of violence and a past that refuses to release the present.
