Overview

El Ashgar (الأشقر / The Rooster) is a drama film set in the world of rooster fighting, where obsession and masculine pride collide. Salem's prized rooster, El Ashgar, is undefeated and Salem is determined to dominate the fighting ring at all costs. But his fixation extends far beyond the arena, poisoning his marriage as he increasingly expects his wife to exist in service of his roosters. The film is a sharp and unflinching examination of how obsession erodes dignity and distorts relationships, using the brutal world of cockfighting as a metaphor for control, ego, and the damage they leave behind.
