Lovers' Notebooks is a Syrian documentary co-directed by Saraqeb resident and media activist Eyad Aljarod and Canadian-Syrian filmmaker Aliaa Khachouk, filmed over three years inside the besieged Syrian city of Saraqeb. The film chronicles how the city's walls became a living canvas for its inhabitants — bearing the names of martyrs, revolutionary slogans, poetry, and graffiti that express collective defiance, mourning, and hope. More than a record of street art, the documentary captures the emotional tension between the energy of revolution and the creeping weight of despair, between remaining in a beloved place and fleeing for survival.
