Overview
Coal is a taut short drama set inside a mine, where a heated argument between coworkers Eesa and Mokhtar has devastating consequences. When Eesa shoves Mokhtar in a moment of anger, Mokhtar's oxygen tank begins leaking undetected. Eesa later finds a methane gas pocket and heroically saves several lives — but Mokhtar has already died from oxygen deprivation. Now Eesa faces an agonizing moral dilemma: stay silent and be celebrated as a hero, or confess his role in Mokhtar's death and bear the full weight of what he has done. Coal is a compact, morally charged film that uses the darkness of the mine as a metaphor for the weight of guilt and the high cost of truth.
