Atwa is a Saudi short mystery film directed by young filmmaker Abdulaziz Al-Shalahi, featuring a standout performance by Khalid Al-Saqer. The story begins in the quiet rhythms of rural life, following two siblings — Faisal and Al-Jawhra — who live on a farm with their grandfather and amuse themselves by building a life-sized doll. When the grandfather takes them on a trip to the village of Atwa in his truck, the children decide to leave the doll and an empty metal bag by the side of the road — a decision that seems innocent but carries an unsettling weight. The film earned critical recognition at the Saudi Film Festival, with Al-Shalahi winning Best Director and Al-Saqer taking home the Best Actor award.
