Imru' Al-Qays is an Arabic historical drama based on the life of the legendary pre-Islamic poet Imru' Al-Qays, who spent his youth in revelry and pleasure until the news reached him that his father, King Hujr ibn Al-Harith Al-Kindi, had been slain by the tribe of Banu Asad. Transformed by grief and duty, the poet sets aside his dissolute lifestyle and embarks on a relentless quest for vengeance, traveling between tribes seeking allies and eventually journeying to Constantinople to appeal to the Byzantine Emperor for military support. But treacherous informants poison the Emperor's opinion of him — and the Caesar sends him away with a cursed, poisoned cloak that ultimately takes his life, sealing the tragic fate of one of Arabic literature's greatest figures.
