Overview

First Picture is a documentary telling the story of a Palestinian child born inside an Israeli prison in the Tulkarm refugee camp, where he spent over two and a half years before being separated from his mother — who remains detained. Placed under the care of his father, family members, and freed companions of his imprisoned mother, the child tentatively discovers the rhythms of normal life. Yet the memories of his early imprisonment continue to shape him profoundly. A deeply affecting human document about stolen childhood and the long shadow of incarceration.
