Manda is a Tunisian social drama set in the working-class neighbourhood of Mallasine Hammam-Lif. A young bride awaits a money transfer from her husband, who is living as an undocumented immigrant in Italy. Anticipating newfound wealth, she begins spending freely — and almost overnight, her neighbours transform their attitude towards her, treating her with a deference and warmth she never received before. As fortune seemingly smiles on her, the film raises an unsettling question: will her luck hold, or will the bubble inevitably burst? Manda is a sharp, humane portrait of how money reshapes social relationships in close-knit communities, and of the precariousness that underlies the illusion of prosperity.
