Overview

aKasha is a Sudanese drama and offbeat love story set in a rebel-held region of Sudan during the civil war. Over the course of a single fateful 24-hour period, the film follows three characters: Adnan, a rebel with a devoted attachment to his AK-47; his long-suffering love interest Lina; and their friend Absi, who is dodging the government army. As survival, love, and loyalty collide against a backdrop of ongoing conflict, the film finds unexpected humor and tenderness in the most improbable circumstances. Part romance, part dark comedy, aKasha offers a rare and deeply human portrait of Sudanese life during wartime.
