She was born in the city of Port Said in 1945. The writer graduated from the Faculty of Arts, Cairo University in 1964. She began her working life in journalism, then the field of literature. She has worked in many jobs, including editor-in-chief of Radio and Television magazine, and a deputy in the Egyptian Shura Council. She has many literary works and some of her works were presented on television. She is married to journalist Ahmed El-Gendy, editor-in-chief of the Egyptian newspaper Al-Akhbar.
