Melhem Zein

He was born in the Bekaa and is originally from the city of Najaf in Iraq. He is one of ten siblings of a family who grew up in the Bekaa. He graduated from the Faculty of Law but did not practice law. In 2008, the artist married Tamani, the daughter of former South Yemeni President Ali Salem Al-Baid, and he had children with her, Ali, Fatima, Hussein, and Zainab. His talent began to appear at the age of seven, when he sang “Lasa Faker” by Mrs. Umm Kulthum. At the age of eleven, he participated in a school song festival that included all the schools in Lebanon and won first place in his region. He also participated in many programs and sang for the category of Muhammad Abdel Wahhab and Nazim Al-Ghazali. He was not satisfied with his talent, but he studied music in a number of institutes and universities. He participated in Super Star and shined greatly due to his mountainous voice. He was given the title “Prince of the Song” in reference to his brilliance in singing the song “You Have Freedom” by Wadih Al-Safi. He arrived at the Golden Triangle accompanied by both Rowaida Attia and Diana Karazon, and after his exit from the competition, riots and demonstrations spread throughout Lebanon.
