Mamoun AlShinnawi

He was born in Noosa El Bahr - Mansoura City, and obtained a Bachelor of Laws in 1936. He began his journalistic career in Rose Al-Youssef magazine while he was still a student at the Faculty of Law, then he moved to Akhir Sa’a magazine, then to Akhbar Al-Youm, and from there to Al-Jumhuriya, where he edited his famous section, “Surgeons of Hearts.” Through his journalistic career, he edited, in collaboration with Salah Abdel Hamid, the magazine (Kalima Wa Nos) in 1949. His real beginning in lyric poetry was with the musician Muhammad Abdel-Wahab, when Muhammad Abdel-Wahab heard him sing a melody. He asked for lyrics suitable for him, so Mamoun wrote (You are my isolation and my time), and thus he is considered the first to write musical lyrics in the history of Egyptian song. Singers sang about 1970 songs for him, which is a world record that no one else had achieved before. Kawkab Al-Sharq, Mrs. Umm Kulthum, sang some of her songs for him, and the last thing he wrote was the song “His love disputes with me and his love reconciled with me” by Aziza Jalal. The great poet was the discoverer of many artistic stars, including the artist Hani Shaker, Ahmed Adawiya, the artist Yousra, the great writer Ahmed Ragab, and Salah Hafez created many weekly magazines that are distinguished by the elegant phrase, including “Kalima wa Nos” and Star. In his life, he wrote the story of one film, the film “The Genius,” starring Ismail Yassin, and produced by Anwar Wagdy. He received a certificate of appreciation from the late President/Mohamed Anwar Sadat on the Fourth Art Day, and he received the State Award in 1980.”
